Expat Groups and Blogs<\/h3>\n

Buenos Aires Expats<\/a> is a forum created especially for those who are living abroad in Buenos Aires. In addition to message boards, the site includes links to blog posts written by active members of the expat community. If you have questions or are looking for English-speakers of common interests, this site is a good place to start reaching out.<\/p>\n

Expat Blog is a website centered around ex-pats blogging about different experiences in their lives in Buenos Aires<\/a>. The blogs are functional, but it’s a good idea to check any information given as facts tend to change quickly in this country and sometimes the blog posts are rather out-of-date.<\/p>\n

Spanglish Exchange brings native English and native Spanish speakers together in a social setting to practice their conversation skills, so it’s a great way to meet Argentines as well as ex-pats. The meetings are held in various bars throughout the city and feature a series of ten-minute bilingual sessions.<\/p>\n

Expat Connection is a group of ex-pats who have joined together to help newly acclimatizing expatriates to the city, with a focus on social activities to meet fellow ex-pats as well local Argentines. The site has not been updated frequently of late, but there are plenty of helpful links.

Discover Buenos Aires<\/a> is a blog organized by Dave, an ex-pat from New York who has lived in Buenos Aires for a couple of years. He makes regular informational posts and is quick to respond to any questions about his experiences.<\/p>\n

The Buenos Aires Pub Crawl<\/a> is a group of ex-pats that organize pub crawls all over the city throughout the year. Events are usually held every few weeks, as well as for holidays like Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day.<\/p>\n

Business and Professional Organizations<\/h3>\n

American Chamber of Commerce Argentina: the website is in Spanish, but they have many people working for them who are Americans, as well as Argentines who speak English.<\/p>\n

Martindale Country Club<\/strong>, is a private golf club in Pilar, Buenos Aires Province, located at Juan Domingo Peron 2375. They don’t advertise or have a website, so you have to either call (54 23 2248 5749) or visit in person.<\/p>\n

Lagos de Palermo Golf Club<\/strong> is located at Avenida Tornquist and Olleros, near the Hip\u00f3dromo, and can be used by non-members for a day, with rates starting at AR$100, not including equipment or caddy rental.<\/p>\n

Olivos Golf Club<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is located in the province right off of the Pilar branch of the Ruta Panamericana. For membership information and course rates, call 4587-1076, ext. 101. Course fees start at AR$120.<\/p>\n

Volunteering<\/h3>\n

Volunteer tourism is gaining momentum in Argentina. However, the majority of volunteer programs actually ask their volunteers to pay a set fee first (typically for housing and meals).\u00a0Expanish Volunteer\u00a0is a comprehensive website that lists various volunteer opportunities throughout the city and surrounding areas. The website is aimed at tourists, and they charge a fee for housing and travel within the city, but you can also go through them as a resident to access the different programs minus the usual tourist fees they charge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
