Banking in Mumbai is safe, efficient, and wide spread. You will find English speaking bank tellers at the international banks, which many expats prefer to use for a higher level of service.<\/p>\n

Banks are typically open from about 10 in the morning until about 2:30 in the afternoon, Monday – Friday. Some branches are open for a few morning hours on Saturdays, but all are closed on Sundays.<\/p>\n

Internet banking is relatively new to India and is growing in popularity.<\/p>\n

ATMs are easy to locate and are normally adjacent to a branch office. There are usually withdrawal limits on ATMs of about 15,000 rupees per day.<\/p>\n

International transfers are possible and straightforward; just fill out a form in person at the bank. Do shop around for the bank which will offer you the best exchange rates on international transfers, especially if you plan to make frequent transfers abroad.<\/p>\n
